El abuso de conciencia es un tema emergente que ha suscitado mucho interés en la Iglesia. El Papa Francisco reconoció el daño causado por el abuso, incluido el abuso de conciencia, que provoca heridas en las víctimas.
Ana Elisa (Ramírez) y James (McTavish) del APA (Asesoramiento y Prevención de Abusos) de Verbum Dei impartieron una formación para ayudar a los participantes a comprender los elementos clave en el abuso de conciencia. A la actividad en línea asistieron 100 personas de varias comunidades Verbum Dei, así como de otras comunidades religiosas de la Iglesia. El gran número de participantes muestra el interés real por este tema, y el deseo de formarse bien en estas importantes realidades.
Se abordaron temas como: qué es la conciencia, objeción de conciencia y obediencia, abuso de conciencia, la dinámica que hay detrás, los foros externos e internos, con casos y ejemplos. Subrayaron lo importante que es respetar el carácter sagrado de la conciencia de cada persona. También, darse cuenta de que nuestra conciencia en su toma de decisiones no es infalible. De ahí la llamada a formar bien nuestra conciencia, y a crecer en el arte del discernimiento y del acompañamiento.
Debido al gran interés, la formación se ofrecerá de nuevo en noviembre en inglés (con traducción al español).

Formation of APA on Abuse of Conscience
The abuse of conscience is an emerging theme which has provoked much interest in the Church. Pope Francis acknowledged the damage caused by abuse, including the abuse of conscience, leading to wounds in the victims.
Ana Elisa (Ramirez) and James (McTavish) of Verbum Dei’s APA (Assessment and Prevention of Abuse) gave a formation to help the participants grasp the key elements in abuse of conscience. The online activity was attended by 100 persons from various Verbum Dei communities, as well as other religious communities in the Church. The large number of participants shows the real interest in this topic, and the desire to form ourselves well in these important realities.
Areas addressed included: what is the conscience, objection of conscience and obedience, abuse of conscience, the dynamics behind, the external and internal forums, with cases and examples. They underlined how important it is to respect the sacredness of the conscience of each person. Also, to realize that our conscience in its decision making is not infallible. Thus, the call to form our conscience well, and to grow in the art of discernment and accompaniment.
Due to much interest, the formation will be offered again in November in English (with Spanish translation).
