Hello, to everyone! Greetings from the continent, nicknamed Down Under! My name is Maria Pineda, and I am a Verbum Dei Missionary living in Sydney.
We are perhaps the community furthest away from the rest of the world.
I hope that through this webpage, and music we can draw closer to each other.
In the last 10 years I have been actively involved in the production of new cds as a means to engage youth outside of “church life”.
“Build on Rock” is my latest album in English and I composed all the songs. “Build on Rock” gathers the talent of many musicians from around the world.
“Build on Rock” was recorded in different studios,by different sound engineers, in different countries, and it is perhaps the most versatile work I have produced because it also comprises musicians from different parts of the world: the Philippines, Mexico and Australia. I have been graced to work with talented musicians throughout the production of this album. Sharing music is always special to me because from working together in the studio, to rehearsing new songs, to making an arrangement, also grows friendships. Without music I may never have met these wonderful people. This is perhaps the part that I most enjoy.
“Build on Rock” was released in a live concert where I performed with other talented musicians in November, 2015.
You can have a look at some video clips from that concert on my facebook page, “Under Construction Verbum Dei Missionary Fraternity”.
What is the inspiration from the album, “Build on Rock”? What inspired me to write this particular song, BUILD ON ROCK, from which the album gets its title, is an experience where I felt that the “rocks” in my life, really were not there for me, when I truly needed them.
I realised that I need to learn to rely on God and also build my life on His unfailing Love, which is eternal.
All the songs I compose are usually the fruit of an encounter in prayer. My music is inspired by God. It is God who moves me to compose.
I am also driven to compose through life experiences, this is the case, in the song, “I WANT TO SEE”. There are things that sometimes can not be said in words.
What would I like to achieve through my music? I would like to move the listener of my music to a closer relationship with God and people.
I would like to give my thanks to the whole group of RUAH, who make sharing our music possible.
